Height, 25.5cm., total length 184.6cm.; choshi, paper made from fibers of mulberry trees (kouzo); mounted as single hand scroll; on the reverse edge is written "the noh Eguchi, [by] Komparu-dono." The colophon reads, "20th day of the 9th month of Ouei 31." It is a holographic manuscript of Zeami.
The contents involve the tale of an itinerant Buddhist priest's visit to the village of Eguchi in the province of Settsu where Saigyou had an exchange of verse with the prostitute Eguchi. Once there, the priest recites Saigyou's verse and a woman from the village appears, gives a verse in response to Saigyou's and then disappears. The spirit of Eguchi no Kimi eventually appears, sings of the plight of the prostitute and is finally transformed into Fugen Bosatsu and ascends to heaven.
This mugen, phantasmal, noh is based on the tale of the exchange of verse between Saigyou and the prostitute that appears in Kojidan and Muchuu mondou.
