Molecular biological research on the causal relationships between
dietary habits and diseases, mainly lifestyle-related diseases.
The current research involves cell culture and genetic engineering
approaches to investigate: (1) the molecular pathogenesis of lifestyle-related
diseases and their exacerbating factors; (2) the health effects
of food components, particularly those of nucleic acids; and (3)
the therapeutic application of small interfering RNA (siRNA), or
RNA interference, to eliminate abnormalities in intracellular signal
transduction pathways that bring about lifestyle-related diseases. |
