Research on the effects of various types of stress (mainly mental
stress) on health and an effective stress management strategy, particularly
aiming at promoting women's health. The major research topics include:
(1) the existence of sexual dimorphism in various stress-induced
physiological responses; (2) the effect of estrogen, a female sex
hormone, on stress responses; (3) a causal link between chronic
stress and lifestyle-related diseases, such as hypertension and
arteriosclerosis; (4) an evidence-based stress-reducing strategy;
and (5) mechanisms responsible for the preventive effects of estrogen
against lifestyle-related diseases. |
