Research on the effects of various types of stress (mainly mental stress) on health and an effective stress management strategy, particularly aiming at promoting women's health. The major research topics include: (1) the existence of sexual dimorphism in various stress-induced physiological responses; (2) the effect of estrogen, a female sex hormone, on stress responses; (3) a causal link between chronic stress and lifestyle-related diseases, such as hypertension and arteriosclerosis; (4) an evidence-based stress-reducing strategy; and (5) mechanisms responsible for the preventive effects of estrogen against lifestyle-related diseases.
