Pathophysiological research on lifestyle-related diseases, focusing on the effectiveness and action mechanisms of functional food components, such as polyphenols, in reducing the disease risks. The research topics include: (1) the mechanisms involved in the development and prevention of metabolic syndrome and its associated components such as hypertension (animal models studies), and (2) the efficacy and usefulness of a novel bioactive compound extracted from the African wild plant.
